Source Catcher
Source Catcher has no accounts, no tracking and no advertising. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is nothing to sign up with.
Nothing that identifies you. No name, no email, no phone number, no account, no advertising identifier, no location. We do not set tracking cookies and there is no third-party analytics script on the page.
We do keep simple tallies of how often things happen — described below, and published openly. They contain no identifiers of any kind.
When you check a clip, the link is sent to our server so the video can be read and checked. To answer, we pass it to services that do specific jobs:
Those services receive the video link or a short search phrase. They do not receive anything about you, because we do not have anything about you to send.
We keep the answer, briefly. A result is held in memory for about an hour so that if the same clip is checked again it can be answered instantly instead of read again. It is not written to a database, not tied to whoever asked, and disappears on its own. Nothing about who checked what is recorded.
We count how often things happen. How many checks ran today, how many were confirmed, which platforms clips came from, how many results were passed on. That is the whole list, and it is published openly at /stats so you can see exactly what is kept.
None of it is attached to a person. There is no identifier, no address, no session, no cookie and no third-party analytics script on this site. A count of forty-seven checks says the tool is being used. It says nothing whatsoever about the forty-seven — not who they were, not what they checked.
If you press Share, that result is saved. Pressing Share creates a permanent page for that check so the person you send it to sees the answer instantly instead of waiting for it to run again. The saved page holds what the check found — the clip's address, what it was identified as, the transcript, the sources — and is kept for six months.
Nothing is saved unless you press Share. Every other check is answered and forgotten. Saving them all would mean keeping a record of what everyone looked at, which is exactly what this tool exists not to do. The saved page records the clip, never who checked it.
If you have shared something and want it removed, send the link to hello@everythingthreads.com and it will be deleted.
The Android app is the website in an app window — it is not a separate program with separate data. It asks for no permissions beyond internet access. When you share a video to it, the link is handled exactly as it would be if you pasted it into the website yourself.
One thing: whether you dismissed the "add to your phone" prompt, so it does not keep asking. It stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Source Catcher is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Data protection law gives you the right to see what a service holds about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We hold nothing that identifies you, so in the normal case there is nothing to release, correct or delete. The one exception is a result you chose to share, which can be deleted on request — send us the link.
If this ever changes — particularly if anything is ever stored that lasts longer than the hour described above — this page will say so and the date below will change.
